Vito

Assistant Head Counsellor

What’s up, everybody?! My name is Ian DeJong, but you can call me Vito at camp! (Vito is the name of the famous protagonist from an old film called The Godfather). As part of my role, I recruit and train counsellors, and I’m super excited for an awesome, fun, and meaningful time at Campfire!

During the year, I study international relations at Redeemer University. In my free time, I like to read an obscure book or play disc golf (not frisbee golf). Currently, I am working at a garden center outside of an apple store. As you can tell from this photo, I am an AVID coffee drinker (I usually take 1 cream, 1 sugar, please and thank you). Most importantly, I am passionate about my faith in Jesus Christ and I love exploring ways in which I can answer His call to demonstrate his love to others.

I love the entire Campfire community for that reason. My first Campfire experience was back when I was 6 years old, and since then, I have always cherished the staff’s passion for both creating fun experiences and living out the Word. This is what I hope to do during my time at Camp, so I’ll be looking forward to seeing all the campers, counsellors, or anyone involved in creating a wonderful summer for God’s children. Glory be to Him. He is good, all the time.
